A number of issues are raised regularly either over the phone, by email or on the discussion forum. We hope that most of them are covered here.
YMT: UK / NYMT?
A number of people have asked about the relationship between Youth Music Theatre: UK and the Children's Music Theatre Ltd which traded as the National Youth Music Theatre (the NYMT). The staff and trustees of YMT: UK want to make it quite clear that they want to disassociate themselves entirely from the NYMT as it is currently constituted and that YMT: UK is established as a separate and new organisation.
It is true to say that many of the staff of YMT: UK were once employed by the Children's Music Theatre Ltd trading as the NYMT, but they are determined to establish a new company which not only has the highest artistic standards but which also operates in an ethically correct way.
When YMT: UK was formed, many of the artistic staff involved in former NYMT productions and workshops brought the intellectual rights of their work to YMT: UK and we agreed that where we could we would try and carry these on. Thus we were able to produce Goblin Market for the Edinburgh Festival this year and to caryy on our work developing the jazz musicals such as Red Hunter .
